Over the years,
I have been lucky enough to amass a small N.I.M.H. collection.
Even though I was 11 when the movie came out, I wasn't quite
aware at the time the importance of merchandising, the cost,
and the rarity some items would see. I missed out on a lot of
items (and even in crazier moments destroyed a few! What was
I thinking!) but thanks to Ebay I have been able to plug
several holes, regain items thought lost, and find new items
that are now the pride and joy of the group.
Another
reason my collection is so small is because the one thing I was
conscious of that the time was that I wanted items with Justin
and Jenner on them. And because there wasn't much merchandising
with them on it my choices were very limited.
Well, thankfully
with the advent of technology I not only can find and replace
lost items but I can actually create the merchandising I've always
wanted.

When did you become a NIMH fan: 1982
Who is your favorite NIMH character/why: I'll give you three
guesses and the first two don't count! =^_^=
What piece(s) of your collection is your favorite: That's
actually a hard question. It's a toss up between The Golden
Book movie book and the calendar. I really like these pieces
because they use stills from the movie and they are the hardest
collectables to find. I have never seen the calendar especially
come up on E-bay.

Yes,
that's tape. Every page gutter has it. Another stupid move from
my youth. Along with a Poppa Smurf sticker on the inside front
cover. (Oh, the humanity!)
September
1983 was a good month.
Dammit!
Don't make me choose favorites! Here's another - an original
Don Bluth sketch made out to yours truly. A friend got me this
when he met Don Bluth at San Diego Comic Con. I think only dolphins
could have heard the squeal I made when I opened the envelope
and found this.
Here's
one more favorite - an actual animation cel. Don't hate me for
this part: I picked it up at a convention for $40.00. BOO-YA! (I gotta get this
thing framed soon...)
What
item would you most like to see: Action figures by McFarlane
Toys.
I would also like to see collector figurines by Sideshow Collectibles. Of course, I would buy from whomever
made these and made them look good. And of COURSE it would be
the Justin and Jenner ones I would buy.
Your collection: Okay...

What's
almost shown here: A Mrs. Brisby plush, the lunchbox (with
original thermos) she's standing on, the Poster/coloring
book, and the board game. All with the thickest layer of dust
I'm not climbing on the shelves to clean.
I, uhm...
"acquired" the above articles from my school library.
Hey, I had a HABIT to feed!
Oooo.
I forgot I had this. I wish I could find a Paul Shenar with Jenner
picture.

Copies
of actual production sketches along with the infamous Kiss picture
too!
My favorite
of the set is the original issue VHS in the silver box. I must've
watched that thing hundreds of times. It's amazing the tape didn't
snap. (I'm afraid to try to play it now). Could you believe
back then video tapes regularly cost $80 - $100 a piece? I remember
my father picking up the N.I.M.H. tape for $85.00.
Now you can pick up the DVD for $9.95 or less.
Yes,
I'm old. Shut up.

I do
own the above posters but because they are rolled up and in a
closet somewhere, I picked these images off the web to illustrate
them. I originally lost the Ebay auction for the teaser poster
but the guy had an extra one and sold it to me straight. He even
tossed in the Comic Scene magazine with Don Bluth and
N.I.M.H. on the cover. Sweet!

Where
the magic happens... Yes, I have a thing for toys like you wouldn't
believe. |
