- This
piece certainly has garnered a lot of attention since I originally
donated it to Jeremy Hodges for his N.I.M.H.
page several years back. This piece (actually a copy)
was originally given to me by a friend of mine who had a friend
who knew an
animator
on N.I.M.H. According to my friend, this piece
was done for inclusion in a scene that was dropped from either
production or the actual film. Don Bluth had originally wanted
to expand more on Justin's obvious crush on Mrs. Brisby but due
to time constraints, the scene(s) had to be cast aside. Whether
actual work on those scenes were done, or whether any real film
on it exists is anyone's guess...
-
- For
all I know, my friend's story is a bunch of hooey and this picture
was done by a friend of his who just wanted to draw a picture
of Justin kissing Mrs. Brisby.
-
- Honestly...
who the hell cares? This is a GREAT picture!
-
- By the
way... I was told by another friend of mine that there is an
actual tape containing pencil sketch footage of Mrs. Brisby and
Justin having sex. I was told that he saw this piece of extremely
rare footage at a San Diego Comicon party a few years back. It
was created by the actual artists who worked on the film and
he described it as being more comedic than erotic. Doncha just
love bored animators?
-
- Update:
N.I.M.H. fan Duncan Mac Dougall (computolio) took it upon
himself to go straight to the source in regards to the "Kiss"
image. All Don Bluth could say is that it is obvious that one
of his animators drew the picture but he didn't know who. Also,
he stated it was also most likely intended as a joke as such
a scene was never contimplated for inclusion in any stage of
production. Well, at least one part of the mystery is solved
but I still stand by my statement in green above. =^_^=

- Personally
tho...
-
- As much
as I would have liked to have seen this scene in the movie, I
don't think it would have worked. I do believe that Justin did
have a crush on Mrs. Brisby but I feel it was more along the
lines of a schoolboy/teacher crush than an actual love thing.
Justin's reaction to our heroine was more of reaction to her
status... after all, she was the widow of the mouse who essentially
saved his life. The way Justin introduced her to the council
proves that love really didn't have anything to do with
it. He was proud and excited to essentially have in his presence
a celebrity, even if he was the only one (along with Nicodemus)
who cared enough about that fact that she was Mrs.
Johnathan
Brisby.
-
- Think
about it... The rats probably wouldn't have even thought
about helping Mrs. Brisby unless Jenner agreed to it.
He was the one who convinced the council to go along with
moving her house but we all know he had alterior motives for
that. I don't think Justin had the clout to convince the council
to help without Nicodemus (remember, Justin didn't
argue with anyone in the council. He probably was planning
to go straight to Nicodemus anyway) so you could only imagine
the debate on that if Jenner had agreed instead with Sullivan
on letting "the lower creatures fend for themselves"...
but I digress...
-
- Would
Justin have kissed Mrs. Brisby like that? Definitely.
Would Mrs. Brisby have let him and liked it? Most probably. Would
they have remained (or even concidered being) a couple?
Absolutely not. I would like to think that they would have done
this to get those feelings out of their systems and then realized
that they're not truly made for each other.
-
- Justin
deserves a rat girlfriend and Mrs. Brisby deserves... someone
else. (I don't know... I never thought about that part
before!)
