 If anything is enblazened into
my memory, it's the pivotal swordfight between Justin and Jenner.
Up until that point, I was only familiar with the near pastoral
environments most of my fantasy animal references lived in. Disney's
Robin Hood had some dark moments, but no one really
got hurt and the action was almost comedic. When I finally saw
N.I.M.H. I ended up with an almost frenzied appetite
for dark fantasy. There's nothing funny or sanitary about someone
trying to kill you and I always try to reflect that in my artwork.
